The analysis is quite interesting. As a matter of historical note "burned steel" is why low number Springfield rifle receivers are suspect.

<JBelk>When examining any failure it's good to remember that IF the cartride case head is still there...the failure was a result of a bad barrel. If the case head is gone, it was a result of high pressure, improper ammo, excess headspace, etc.
