I want to re-stock this rifle I have. It is a Winchester bolt action 30-06, 22" barrel, blind ADL style magazine, push feed. I think it might say M70 on the barrel, but I also have heard that it may be a 670, which was an ADL M70??? I need to know what inlet pattern to order. Any help would be much appreciated. I will post pics tonight.

The 670 and the 70A are both "ADL" types with blind magazines, I don't recall what setup the M770 had(yet another version). I think the 70A was a more "deluxe version" as it has grip caps. I killed my first deer with a 70A in .243, good rifles.

The 670's were stamped as such. The 70 A and the 770 used M 70 barreled actions and just the different stock and magazine box. You can use a new M70 stock and buy the guard bow and magazine cover and magazine box from the new M70, to convert it to hinged stlye Jim Wisner

It should be one of the 70A's or 770's then They had a walnut stock as the 670 had a birch stock. Also my father remembers when the M70 Wranglers came out about 1992 that the first year they were a blind magazine. I don't know if you will be able to find a blind magazine stock any more. You will more than likely have to convert it over to the hinge magazine cover. Jim Wisner Metalsmith [ 10-23-2003, 04:47: Message edited by: J Wisner ]

So what should I do?? I plan on ordering a inletted stock from Elk Ridge Gun Stock's. They inlet for the following Winchester's: M70 pre-war M70 pre'64 M70 post'64 (new) M70 Classic (new pre-'64 type) Featherweight M43 M52C M52D M64 M670 US 1917 I'm thinking the M70 post'64 (new)is the only one that will fit, should I just have them not cut out the bottom??

The rifle you have uses the post 64 long action. The main difference between the Classic is the bottom metal. The New Featherwieght has the light contour barrel, yours has the standard contour barrel. Jim Wisner
