jawheelerOberndorf sporting mauser made for the US market. Probably imported by Tausher. I can't see the serial number clearly but by the looks of the butt plate its pre WWI.

Michael RobinsonThe action appears to be stamped "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER - OBERNDORF A/N" and the barrel rib appears to be stamped "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER A.-G. OBERNDORF AM NECKAR" - both indicating commercial Mauser manufacture.
The receiver ring seems to be stamped "U.S. 1906" and the barrel shank is stamped "7,68" - both indicating .30-06 caliber.
Also, the "Germany" stamped on the floorplate indicates a commercial import into the U.S.A.
Good looking rifle.

Rusty, you're going to want this or something like it to fill that big dovetail cut in the rib.

That kind of stippling is done with a point punch many thousands of times. The surface is a bunch of "dots" so small and close together it looks like shading. There are some multi-point stippling punches out there that are faster, but require some skill to use. I like that and hatching, too.

Met DirtyJim and Alan out at the range Tuesday afternoon. I got the tangent sight and got to enjoy meeting a couple of great AR Members!

dirtyjimit was nice meeting you & alan. thanks for letting me put a few rounds down range with your big bores.
Here is an update on the rifle.
Looks a lot better without that ugly piece of brass!

Does anyone have some kind of ball park value on this rifle? I can't seem to find much in my
Gun Values Book!
