Gents: The following is a note I posted on the "Big Bore" site but I suspect a number of the people who frequent this site do not review the remarks on the other sites. In putting a .416 Taylor together I plan on purchasing a complete rifle and then putting a new barrel on the gun. When choosing the rifle to purchase, which makes the best choice---CZ or Model 70 Winchester? Best choice meaning least amount of money and the lesser amount of alternation. Secondly, once the make of rifle is selected which is the better caliber for ease of converion and strenght---.7mm Rem Mag or .300 Winchester Mag. I welcome any suggestions which you may be inclined to offer Thanks woody

Go on line, or better yet, to a store and price those guns you are considering, and buy the cheapest one. The .416 Taylor is based on a .338 sized case so any magnum action that will handle this size of round, will work just fine.

If you're willing to live with a pushfeed M-70 they are fairly cheap......and in my experience a very fine and reliable action. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."
