I have a Montana V2, stainless and plastic, in 458 Lott. The front swivel mount has rapped me on my off hand and I am looking for a fix. My options seem to be the Gentry Stainless steel barrel band swivel base, or the push button swivel bases. The flush cup from Mcmillan, or the push button heavy duty base from GrovTech. In the push button bases I would use the screw in base, only on the front stock position and retain the regular swivel base on the rear. If I do this I would drill 1/2" hole centered on the front swivel base, plug and bottom tap with a 9/16 tap with the proper thread (18 NF), then screw and glue the base in place. Has anyone tried these bases? What do you think? Comments welcome. If it works, I have a couple of other rifles for the same treatment. I like a smooth fore end. Thanks, Arnie | ||
