ColoradoMattIs this basically the info one can find in the "Making it Feed" thread here in the Gunsmithing section, or is their more to it than that, such as how to take metal out of the bottom of the action, setting the taper etc?
Matt
FISH!!
Heed the words of Winston Smith in Orwell's 1984:
"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

Duane WiebeInformation in the booklet covers a lot of what's on the thread...expanded to cover some of the question I was asked.
Could have made it a hundred pages and maybe not cover every single "hiccup" Sorta like tryilng to write a book on how to hammer a nail straight

So buddy, get writing! We need a good detailed book from you guys that have not only the talent but have been there a long time. Maybe it is a sign of the times but trying to get anyone to teach you anything around here is next to impossible. I understand guys don't want to give up trade secrets or cut themselves out of business. Most of us who want to learn will never be good enough or even if they are want to be a gunsmith in any form for a living. We just want to tinker on "junk" that would never have anything done to it otherwise. As for those that are serious prospects for the trade, well they need those that came before to pass on knowledge so it isn't lost. Every generation needs to be taught by those who came before them. I cant think of any better people to do that than you or any one of a number of others with specialized talent that are here on AR. That is besides the fact you might actually make money on it.

Happiness is a warm gun

Duane WiebeThanks for the kind words. I realize at one time, there were "trade secrets" Years ago, I was severely chastized for writing an article about leather covered pads. Realistically the orders for leather covered pads went up!
No, sharing information is good for everyone in business...perhaps makes for appreciation of the work involved.???

Jim KobeDamn, if this keeps up a second edition will be necessary. Then just think what a signed first edition will be worth. Duane, have you thought about a leather covered one?

Well, once in a while I take leave of my senses and consider such a project. Then I look at backlog and get over it! But... Never say "never"

Duane: James Howe once wrote a book about gunsmithing. You should do the same + add pictures as good as those in the booklet. If you do that I`LL come around to pick it up.
