Seems to me that a person can get a dakota way below what dealer price is. Is this a good deal or is going the custom route the way to go? , or am I missing something, when it comes to the quality of a dakota. thinking of a 300H&H and 375H&H. seen 375's as low as 2600 dollars used

Dakotas tend to hold about the same resale value as other well done custom rifles........as "Fabulous Fether Crotch" James Wayne has advertised for thirty years----"For sale at less than half replacement cost......."

All good quality custom guns are the best deals on guns you'll find anywhere. Many times it's due to pure unadultrated ignorance of basic quality and how to recognize it.

I once took in trade a Westley Richards 375 H&H single square bridge express rifle for a post '64 M-70, straight across, because his "....daddy said never trust no foriegn guns....they're cheap cast iron." I didn't argue with him at all.....
