Yes, one can always replace the bolt shroud with an older one or one of the new replacements by several different manufacturers. Meanwhile, sense no one had had an answer to the original question, I take it that the Jlock is still with us. Pity but then, I only own the older 700's w/o the J-Lock. I like th looks of the LSS Mt. Rifle but as long as the J lock comes with it...well I have an older Mt. Rifle sans J lock to hunt with.

The firing pin, spring, cocking piece and shroud all need to be changed to get rid of the shroud.
