Thanks Roger. Yes it has the V-spring. My son curently has the gun. As soon as I get it back I will check for end shake(I didn't think of that)and let you know what happened. Thanks again.

If it fires ok in single action mode but not in double action, could it be wear in the works is letting the hammer fall before it is fully cocked. Lyle

Does the .22 have the usual V-spring? .22 rimfire ammo needs a harder firing pin strike than center fire ammo. Having said that, it doesn't mean that's the problem. Does the Diamondback have recessed chambers? If so, the recess could be gummed up. Can you move the cylinder forward and backward in the frame with the cylinder closed? Endshake (Smith and Wesson's terminology I forget what Colt calls it) could cause the misfires. It could also be the ammo. In fact, that is where I would start. Your ammo could be old, although it doesn't have to be old not to work. Get several different brands of ammo to see if there are some that don't misfire or don't misfire as much. Good luck and check back with the results. I'm curious what the problem is. Without having the gun in hand, it is difficult to tell what the problem is. I'm sure I have overlooked some possibilities that would be obvious while looking at the gun. Good luck.
