malcolmReamer specs
Gidday guys, looking at the specs of a reamer drawing how much bigger than the actual case would a reamer ream out the chamber?
I'm guessing if I deducted about 2 thou from the measurements on the drawing I would have the case dimensions.
Thanks malcolm

Not so. SAAMI specifications give a minimum and a maximum specification. If the reamer is cutting near maximum and the brass is minimum, there will likely be more than a .002 difference.
For instance, in the RCBS book of cartridge and chamber drawings, the shoulder measurement for the 30-06 chamber is listed at .4425. The opposite page gives the cartridge dimension as .441. An actual piece of Remington 30-06 factory brass measures .436. What dimension are you specifically looking for?

malcolmthanks for the replies guys. What I'm trying to do is calculate the case capacity ( using Load from a Disk ) of the new sako 9.3x66. I only have a drawing of the reamer specs. As yet I don't have a physical case to measure up.
thanks
Malcolm

malmThe company or person who put together the reamer drawing should know the case dimensions, I would ask them.
Or,
You might try calling Huntington's at 1-866-735-6237 or email them at <buy@huntingtons.com> for the info. They are good to answer questions.

jeffeossoreamers HAVE to be larger than largest saami spec of the case... mine are generally .003 larger than case drawings... but that's for a DGR, MUST feed, not a bench gun

You don't have to settle for off the rack, plus size reamers to ensure reliable feeding. You can have chambers of less than plus size specs and still have your DGR ammo feed just fine.
