Can a 300 weatherby , be reamed to 300 ultra.
Why? I have 3 of the weatherbys and no ultra. Thought it would be the cheapest way to try one..

It should work, depending on the chamber dia. at the belt. You would still have the Wby. freebore, though. And neck dia. would be a concern, depending on current neck dia. and RUM reamer neck dia.

You could also have some issues with it feeding.
Not sure though. May depend on what kind of rifle it is? Also if you set the barrel back, wich I think most will say needs to be done, you will end up looseing that much length plus that much speed.
You might end up spending $150 bucks or so for 50fps.

The 300 Ultra will clean up the 300 Wby chamber completely, the case head is about .020" larger on the Ultra though, not sure if you'll need to open it up or not.

I have had ultramags built on standard 700 magnum actions and the feed rails need to be modified.The bolt does not need any work.
