just wondering what a decent price on a blued adl 700 for a project is. i usally pick them up if the action is good (not pitted, or banged up
) if they're under $300.

I don't know of anyone who could make one for $300 so i'd say that is a good price.

You can buy brand new actions in the box for just a bit over $300.00.

If you have an FFL look on Midway’s site. Midway started carrying the new actions after Brownell’s dropped them, and their dealer prices are a bit less than what you say you saw on guns america.

I'd say you're in the ball park. I see them in ads often at near that price or a little higher. What's the project you have in mind?

Jay i'm planning on a 35whelen i want to use it whitetail hunting i've been hunting with my 7mm rem, it kills em right now but i've been hunting some areas with more brush lots more brush (not that i'm going to shoot through it) the length of the 7mm is a lil cumbersome manuvering through these areas.

Why would a .35 Whelen be any shorter than your 7mm?

i was hoping that i could get decent velocities out of a 22" barrel, i would also use it to hunt blacktail in western washington, if you're familiar with western wash. you would understand why a 28" barrel is cumbersome.

I look for guns that have been damaged...fell off horses etc out west on hunts.....stocks and barrels badly scratched and damaged.....not always easy to find but I've bought three so far at $125. each.

It's not the way to find them now....just pick them up when they appear. Shop the used guns racks and look for badly scratched and weathered guns.

You’re looking at “retail†prices...not “dealer†prices.

Having hunted most of my deer in Western Washington too I can understand that logic. My longest ever Western Washington shot was 125 yards and the shortest 35 feet. The majority of them have been shot with a 7MM Rem and factory 24" barrel.

Just left our local gunshow and there was an early BDL in 270 with an asking price of $285. Well used, but smooth as a 700 gets. Bbl channel had been hogged out a 1/4" each side of the bbl. to float it.

Last weekend at our semi-annual club show there were several quite decent looking used Model 700's at or under $300 and a used .35 Whelen Model 700 for right at $300 (might have been $325 but as I wasn't interested, I don't recall ith exact certainty). For some reason a friend paid more like $375 at the same show for one in .222, but what the hey, it's his money......
