I've got a Savage stevens 200 with syn stock in 300 win. It kicks like a mule with the standard recoil pad. Do you think I'd hurt it if I took off the stock recoil pad and then slipped on a good slip on like a limbsaver or pachmayer. I'm trying to keep the scope close to my eyes and hope that by removing the stock pad...then sliding on the slip on...the LOP will stay pretty close to stock.

Sounds like a good idea. Terry -------------------------------------------- Well, other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

I had a Wby Vangard in a plastic stock. Even with a brake it was painful. I had it put in a Boyds laminated JRS stock, and turned it into a pussycat. Unblievable difference. I'm trying to keep it lighter if possible. It really needs a muzzle brake but I hate to spend another $150 on a $250 gun. We used to have shooting cradles at our range but they are revamping and I think they are gone. Maybe I need to spring for a caldwell lead sled...or sell that gun. I know the standard stock is junky but that gun had given me quite a few sub moa groups at 200 and 300 yds.

I have had good feedback on the Limbsaver recoilpads I have installed for women and older shooters. Mike Ryan - Gunsmith
