Slide breakage on Witness Pistols

Has anyone experienced slide breakage on ANY witness pistols? (CZ 75 clones)

I have a friend with a witness full size, 40SW, with the wonder finish. Last weekend, while he was shooting it, the slide cracked right in the middle of the ejection port, through the bottom portion of the frame.

I called EAA/Witness and they said to send it in and they would look at it. It goes out Monday and I am confident by the phone conversation, they will do right.

Just wondering if anybody else has experienced this and what was done about it?

I have sold lots and lots of them and never had a problem so severe as that.
I also own one personally and have never had a jam or a single problem with it.

I guess he got that one-in-a-million problem pistol.

I sold dozens of Witness pistols in my gun store days. The only problem I ever saw was an occasional magazine problem.
My personal Witness is a 9mm that has gone through 30,000+ rounds with zero problems. The only parts I have changed are an ambi safety and trigger (my own choice, not due to any breakage) and springs.
EAA was always good to work with. I never had to send a gun back, but would need a part from time to time. All it took was a phone call and the part arrived in a few days.

I have 4 Tanfolio built pistols. Two in 40 S&W with added 9mm top ends imported by Springfield Armory.

An additional pistol is a long slide in 9x21 sold by Springfield Armory.

The last is a 9x21 racegun ... comp and red dot.

Have many rounds through these pistols. Have seen only two types of problem even at IPSC major. The first is that slide stops can take a terrible battering. Replacement with super alloy tool steel rod cures that.

The other is that the firing pin used with the firing pin block some times drags on the primer breaking the tip. That is usually fixed on a race gun by replacing with a non-block pin and removing the firing pin block.

All in all, excellent guns.

That has been my limited experience also. I was just wondering if I had missed something somewhere. I've always had very good feedback on these guns.

It goes out today! Cool

Today is the 14th. Sent it out on the 7th.
The gun arrived today via USPS Priority mail with a NEW slide and test fired.

NO CHARGE!

I always felt these were great guns, now I know they stand behind them also.

Kudo's to EAA!
