ruger 416 needs to go on a diet...
I have a ruger guide gun, in 416 ruger. its heavy and i can't stand the laminated stock. i carry this gun, a couple hundred days a year as a guide in alaska.
is there any smiths out there who are familiar with these guns that thinks dropping a pound or two is doable and could help me?

ruger long action plastic stock, drop in
as light as you are willing to pay for --- or, ungodly light, the ruger canoe stock

the lam stocks are, generally speaking, the heaviest material for stock ... generally

I mill the laminated stocks down like an SVD Russian sniper stock and they lose weight fast.
You get the idea; butt and forearm slots.
Yes, the plastic stocks are lighter and better for Alaska.

i have a short LOP so any drop in needs to be modified...i'm talking turning down the barrel, changing stocks, taking off some steel and doing a overhaul
