Is there a muzzlebrake that can be taken on and off easily? I want to use a certain rifle for silhouette, but want to see shots when shooting in the field or from the bench. Brakes aren't legal for silhouette, but if I could just have a barrel threaded and unscrew it when not needed it would be excellent. I'm also thinking about putting one on a 7mm STW I'm building to see hits at longer ranges, but would like to take it off for hunting.

Any ideas on what brake?

They are normally just screwed on. I have done a bunch of them with an add-on thread protector as an option, I make my own.

I've been looking at a Defensive Edge or JP Eliminator. I don't care if it is ugly, as I will not be showing it off most likely. I have a gunsmith who will thread my barrel and stuff, so I can skip the $200+ charge of an installed muzzlebrake.

Would a muzzlebrake that fit a 7mm also be effective on a 6mm? I would like to use the same brake if possible, but I know there is supposed to be a very small gap between the bullet and brake.
