hysiderYugo.....

American Rifleman recently reviewed the new Model 70 classic, and they echoed the findings of some previous famous gunwriter, in that there was a significant correlation between owners of Chevy trucks and Winchester Model 70's, and on the other side, Ford trucks and Remington Model 700's.
I think I actually see it the other way. The Chevy drivetrains are strong, cheap and efficient with okay accessories and not a lot of extras in the suspension. They lend themselves to customizing with aftermarket parts. This corresponds to the easy to accurize, safe action, push feed model 700.
The Ford is tougher, maybe tougher than needed for most chores. Twin I beam suspension, etc. The drivetrains aren't as easy to play with or customize.
So, my list is:
Remington: Chevy
Ford: Winchester
Ruger: Dodge/Jeep
Sako: BMW
Tikka: VW (before Audi)
Browning: Accura
Weatherby: Cadillac
Savage: Subaru

I would put your post in the appropriate forum but I'm not a moderator. However you can delete your own post and move it. Hope this helps.

Dago RedI guess we all see it really different. I would say something like
weatherby= saab, some people like them, but they are definitely ugly sob's
cz=toyota a truly purpose built item that lasts for a very long time
custom rifles (by great craftsman)= saleen/foos etc.
remington= ford (and I am a ford guy for years, but hear me out) at first look they might be attractive, it isn't until you get into it that you notice all they lack and what can't be changed/fixed (don't get me started on the F550 we have at work or the stupid ass inability of the ford auto. transmission to be manually shifted to each gear)
winchester= very popular, good product, many options, better looking than most
ruger= dodge, cutting edge, willing to try diverse things, built for the power
savage= saturn. a good product, no options or frills, no real customizing path, gets the job done and hard to beat for price
Blaser= Mr. Potatoe Head. different things to snap on and off.

Good call. Both are overpriced, overhyped and neither can do what it is supposed to.

Johan,
Do you raely think a Blazer is as good as a 2CV?
We had a 2CV it was great fun, but I would not buy a R93.

Excellent example of something overpriced. But to each his own.
It was once my good foretune to have a good mate who had deep pockets, the cars he owned were by;
Bentley x 2,
Bugatti x 3,
Alfa,
Rolls Royce,
and Range Rover.
He had only one make of gun and that was BOSS.
I think he had good taste in cars, guns and friends.

That Hummer is just a chevy suburban with a wanna be military looking body on it .
Triggertate , Now thats funny!

This is true. Mr. Potato Head is not a car, so a more likely option would be:
Blaser = Lego toy car. A 5 year old can exchange all the little plastic parts!

Yes, but can you. This is not a place for four year olds to play. Now run along before your father catches you playing on the "big boy" forum.

jeffeossorem/win/savage/ruger = american made .. not quite as refined as some, built like BSH, and affordable
searcy double - pantera
merkel/kreighoff/other"cheap" doubles - BMW
army/navy doubles - jag
named maker doubles - Zil (astin martin for brit car fans)
ultracustom made mauser copies (various) range from vette through pantera, some with a left turn to any now owned by fiat (ferrari, masaratti, etc)

Both were made to work well in rugged places a long time ago and they are still doing it.
