fellas, I recently bought off gunbroker a 98 Krag "sporterized" .30-40. After a few hours of going thru it and cleaning it I made some dummy rounds using Woodleigh 220 RN. Upon opening the bolt I noticed the round would lift up from the follower to line up to the feed ramp but jams into the ramp when closing the bolt. After much study and messing up the head of the brass I did note that something is not allowing the round to pop up. This rifle has a Redfield 70 model K and noticed the that the side fastener goes into the cutoff hole and that the mag. cutoff is missing. I attempted to make a dummy cutoff on one attempt and did not succeed well, did however came to the conclusion that it will work if I can get a notch where the rear sight "locks" up against the end of the dummy shaft properly notched. I had too much metal removed trying to get this right on the first time. any idea would be great app'd to help out...or is this where I began a process of patience and filing? thanks | ||
