Have take off barrel from Browning FN Safari Grade rifle in '06 caliber. What would be miniumum wall thickness of barrel to rebore to 9.3x62?? OD @ muzzle is .690" Minus approx. .312" from .690" leaves .378". Half of that is .189" Barrel is 22" in length and could cut back a bit to gain more wall thickness, but not much and would prefer to leave same length.
Additional question is will this barrel coming from FN Mauser action thread up to say, VZ24 Mauser action?? Threads on this barrel are tapered in shape, not square cut. Final question, any good sources to have a rebore/chamber project done?? All help appreciated.

I'd want at least .570 Muzzle diameter.

I'd bet on it!

Vapodog,
OK, thanks for the feedback. Got a real nice spare VZ24 on the bench, close to fully inletted dense walnut stock, get this barrel rebored and make me another 9.3.

You're still going to have a .162 wall....
Mine is .135 thick and I wouldn't want more than that.

You might consider having it recontoured....

That said.....you'd be money ahead to just get a new blank and start from there! Smiler

It should bolt up but might not headspace correctly. Or the sights would line up correctly if they exist.
I would simply start with a new barrel if I wanted anything but an 06.

If you decided to rebore here is a link.

It's one of those cases where it could be done, but doesn't really make sense unless the barrel is going back on to the original action and into the original stock. Since you're using a different stocka and action, I'd definately buy a new barrel.
