I bought one earlier this year in .270, got it NIB for $600. It's a very nice rifle for the money. The metal work is clean, the action is very smooth and and once you replace the trigger boot ($30 from Shilen) it's got a fantastic trigger. My shoots + or - MOA with 130gr Winchester power points.

On the down side the rifle is a little on heavy side. Mine weighs in at 7 3/4lbs. Perfect for a stand hunter, not so good for a stalker. Another thing is the clip, It's a love hate thing for me. I really like the convienence of poping the clip out when I get on the road and there is no way this is ever gonna fall out while hunting, but anything that you can remove from the gun has a tendancy to get lost. I think a floorplate would have been much better.

I have 2 and would want one in each caliber I could find for $600, they originally retailed in the $1400-$1500 range and wholesaled for near $1000. I wish they still made them.
The action is very similar to a Dakota 97 with bolt fluting and recoil lug being the major differences. The magazine is a cross between a removable one and a floorplate. I would prefer just a floorplate. IMHO the synthetic stock is the best shaped factory synthetic I've ever held. I agree with them being a little heavy. Both of mine have shot sub 1" groups at 200yds............DJ
