Photos of stocking and checkering
I'm looking for a few photos of stock making in progress. I've surfed a few off of this forum but I'd like to see more if possible. I'm putting together a bit of talk for a local woodworking club.

I'd especially love to have a photo of a stock duplicator in action if anyone has one.

Of course, I can't find a good pair of photos showing especially good and especially bad stock layout when I need them either. So, could use one of each if possible.

Post them here or email me at brentd@iastate.edu

Thanks,
Brent

I did a Dogpile.com search of "gunstock duplicator" and got all sorts of selections from home plans to finished hobby duplicators.

Guys, thanks a lot. I think I have more than enough with the pictures here and those sent to me offline. A super bunch of woodworkers here indeed. I do a lot of stock work myself - but strictly for myself as a total amateur. All of you outclass me by a long long shot.

Thanks again.

Contact Les Brooks. He has a DVD set that has a pot load of info on stock making and how to make your own duplicator.

djpaintles,
What are those chisels in the foreground of your last pic? Are those grooves on them and if so, what is the purpose?

gzig5, The grooves in my chisels are the tradional hollows on the bottoms of Japanese chisels. Some sets have multiple grooves instead of 1 large one. They are designed to make the chisel easier to flatten. Japanese Chisels can be quite hard so the hollows do save time.................DJ
