Savage, THAT is PROPER grain layout for a big bore! The other stock blanks I have seen on this thread are marble caked peices of "eye candy" and NOT suitable for a big bore rifle that is ACTUALLY FIRED! There is a GOOD reason that big bores that get used have rather plain jane straight grained 1/4 sawn stocks on them, if the "expert" stockmakers want to admit it or not.
