I have an older rifle with holes in the action that I would like to have welded up. Question: will the action need to be re-hardened after welding? If so, will further action work be needed to ensure the bolt functions correctly? Thanks, Brett

What type of holes are you referring to? If the hole is small it can be tapped and plugged with a screw. Larger holes (like the mortise on an Enfield) are usually filled with a plug that is silver soldered in place.

Belaw, Holes for a side mounted scope and a misplaced hole on the rear / top of the action for scope mount. Could be closed with screws but it looks does not look too good... Brett

Brett Properly done the screws should be near invisible. Then send the action to an engraver to recut the Winchester logo.
