I am considering buying a short chambered and prethreaded shilen barrel to have installed on my m700 22-250. First, how much could I expect to pay to have it installed? I was also wondering if additional finishing would be required (it is 180 grit sanded)? Thanks........Scott

Welcom to AR.

Before you buy a pre chamberd and threaded barrel ask your smith if he minds working with one that has already had this done.

More to your point your are looking at about $500, $200-$250 for a barrel and about the same to have it installed. Yes there will usually be some polish and/or bead blast or something to get the mettal to what ever point it needs to be for which ever finish you choose.

Hope this helps

I'd prefer a long chambered barrel because then the smith don't need a chamber reamer to fit the barrel.
That aside I'd think for $100 you should be able to have it fitted. I assume the barrel will also be crowned by Shilen......
add $100 for a blue job and you're shooting.

You might consider getting a stainless barrel.....they don't have to be blued.
