Anyone out there know the details of this action (the old Mark X with several new changes) well enough to be able to answer detailed techncial questions about its design? Like... - Does decock include firing-pin safety (lug shoulders)? - Does commercial safety function like military (i.e. it can only be moved to "safe" after having been cocked)? - Does the (2P) trigger safety lock the bolt or not? - Within what tolerance levels are the front and rear guard screws aligned? - How are actions (trigger-guard, magazine, follower, receiver loading-port, etc.) sized for different COL sizes? - Is there a recoil crossbolt? - Does the ejector have an elongated pivot hole? - Does it have one or more locking screws? It is a copy of the MKX although MUCH improved machining & finish in the examples that i have seen. Doug Humbarger NRA Life member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club 72'73. Yankee Station Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

Doug, Either the Mk X's you've seen were really poor examples or the 3 piss poor machined CD's I have in the shop are. While still not the nicest action the Mk X I have is better in every regard than the CD actions I have with the possible exception of final polish. They got a wee bit zealous when polishing for the high gloss finish on the Mk X. A couple of weeks ago a friend brought over his CD action and we proceded to measure the four. Only one had the scope base holes drilled correctly, the others were either off center or in one case on center but drilled & tapped at an angle. None of the other measurements we took were any better. These were all right handed actions. maybe the left hand models are better??? Aut vincere aut mori

Mine is currently on it's way back from David Gentry. It has none of the negative issues or flaws that you just listed (thank God ). I asked him his opinion of the of the CD actions. He told me that he considers them to be the best actions out there right now for the left handed shooter (when compared to factory LH guns like the M70, M700, M77 etc.) My project rifle , in 35 Whelen is coming along nicely. I hope to be using it this fall. I'll post more pics then. To sum it up.....I am VERY pleased with my CD mauser. When the price is taken into considertion I feel they are very hard to beat.

Well I must really be one of the lucky ones. I have or have had 7 or 8 Dalys. I did have one that was just a touch over polished. The screw holes were dished a little. All others were in perfect shape. Every bit as good as the later model MKXs. Every one of my scope base holes was were it was supposed to be. No it isn't a full blown custom they need a little smoothing. But for $230-264 for an action or barreled action I feel well worth the money. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

Anyone w/ an opinion of the new stainless CD mauser? Quality of steel, barrel, etc.? Interested in a stainless CD big bore barreled action for a project. Mauser, I've seen the same thing on some of the newer Winchester M70s, the worst one I've ever seen was on a new Supergrade M70 30-06. It was reworked and is now one of my favorites, so I don't think Mark10 or CD have exclusive rights to poor factory quality control. Thanks, Gary

I spoke with a stockmaker who builds precision aluminum platforms into walnut and laminate stocks, who reported problems with three of your actions due to poor alignment of the front and rear guard screws – to the degree that the barrels were severely off-center towards the muzzles. He even had the actions remeasured by a machinist to validate that his platform wasn’t the source of the deviation. I've logged a question with CD tech support regarding this issue, which several of you are echoing, in order to find out if they are aware of it and if so what has been done to correct it at the factory? Generally, within what tolerance levels should the guard screws aligned?

Uji, Who is the gunsmith who makes the aluminum bedding block for stocks? I might like to have him do one for me. Thanks, Garrett

HP Shooter, Thats them, all right. Don't recall the gents name who I spoke with there, but he told me he was the founder (who'd sold to a couple of youger fellas and stayed on). Said he'd received CD three barreled actions a few months ago from a gunsmith to be fitted with stocks. Thing was, they couldn't do the job because the alignment of the screws was off on all three. I'm hoping to hear back from CD that they've caught this problem and dealt with it. I want to build a rifle on one of their actions, but I'd rather pay more for guaranteed quality than take a chance on getting a lemon. Maybe a Montanna Rifleman barreled action is in my future! According to them (MR), Accurate Innovations knocks 10% off their stocks for MR customers.
