I've just ordered an HS Precision Sporter stock for my Rem 700 ADL '06. I'd like to replace the factory barrel with a #5 contour (Pac Nor) heavy sporter. Does anyone know whether the stocks barrel channel can be opened up enough to accomodate this barrel? Or, what is the largest size that will fit?

I called HS Precision with this question and they weren't much help. They said the stock will fit a magnum barrel but weren't specific as to size.

I put a #4 Lilja in one with no sweat. Should be good to go.

Is the #4 Lilja heavier than the barrel (Rem 700?) that you replaced?

The HS stock will take the factory Remington magnum Sporter barrel without any mods. The factory sporter barrel will actually have quite a gap around it.

You can remove a signifigant amount of 'glass from their barrel channels without running into trouble.
