I have a GECO marked 98 type sporting rifle, bought this gun years ago and set it in the corner thinking it was a 10.75x68. Well I got surprised when looking closely today and found out its not the 10.75x62 but rather the 10.75x57.
My question, leave it alone or rechamber to the 10.75x68. This gun is not particularly collectable, very plain and already drilled for a sidemount (that is now missing although I might have one in the junk box).

How could you not play with it first, just to see what it could or couldnt do!!
I have some halfjacketed 44 mag bullets sized .423 if you just want to try it and not send a woodliegh or other pricey bullet down the tube.

I have essentially the same rifle. Check your bore size, I've found these to run large.

I was going to rechamber to 68 until I slugged the bore and found it to be .426". Now I shoot cast .44-40 bullets through it.

If it does have a odd bore size it easy to polish out a lee sizing die to the right size.

I run 430 pistol bullets thru a 416 die to shoot in my 416 taylor.

I guess I need to check the bore diameter. Mike. what are using for dies and load data?

I just used a hodge podge of dies in order to expand the case mouth and seat a .426" bullet. I believe one of them was a .44-40.

Since I'm shooting lead bullets I kept the velicty reasonable. So I used a load of Unique. Velocity is in the neighborhood of 1600 fps. Just a plinking load really but fun.

Just slugged the bore, turned out to be larger than std for the 10,75X62. Thanks Mike for the suggestion.
Looks like I will either sell it or try and cobble a set of dies together.
