This is a thread on getting 6BRX rounds to feed through my daughters howa 1500. What do I have to modify/add/polish, shape so that those short stubby rounds actually get where there supposed to go. The longer 105gr bullets do fine but the 65gr loads seem to want to plow down into the front of the box, jamming the bolt. My initial thought was to add some sort of spacer to the back/front of the the box and then shape the follower down to size. Will this even work or am I doomed to have another single shot? I leave it to the wisdom of AR. I make all sorts of cartridges feed from all manner of actions that were not made for them. In your case, you are trying to push a straight, short case forward into a tapered magazine box made for another cartridge. Reshape that box to a straighter shape fit the cartridge better and you will get it to feed. And make sure your follower spring is strong in lifting up the front of the follower.

I believe there is aftermarket DBM systems available for the Howa 1500 short action. If so, likely an AI style mag would feed them well as they are a centerfeed style. Shoot straight, shoot often. Matt

Thanks dpcd! I finally got around to tinkering with it late last night. Before I got into shaping anything the box I slid the spring forward a tad to get some more tension to the front. Voila! Worked like a charm, gun even feeds empty cases now.
