I have been looking at a SAKO L46 "Deluxe" Varmint rifle in .222 Rem. The Serial No. is 53XXX. The floorplate and magazine are not engraved. The stock has a thin Pachmayr recoil pad and ebony pistol grip cap and forend cap. The pistol grip cap has a cream-colored, diamond shaped, inlay. The stock appears to have a typical SAKO Varmint style layout. Did the SAKO L46 "Deluxe" Varmint stocks ever come so appointed, or is this an aftermarket stock? Thank-you.

Sounds like either a rework of the factory stock or an aftermarket replacement. The pad is definately added, since all Sako pads were so marked (and the varmint model has always had a buttplate rather than a pad.)

Stonecreek :

Thank you. The asking price is to high for it not to be all original.
