Anyone know what the "Target Grey" Ruger uses on several M77's actually is? Is it durable?

Thanks,

Brad

Mine looks as if it is like one of those vapor honed finished that they put on stainless, but that is only a guess.

I do not know for certain. But I do know that if you bead blast and then blue stainless steel, you will get the same effect. The darkness however varies depending on the iron, or ferrous steel content of the stainless you are using.

I've been trying to discover what this technique was since it's debut and as far as I know, it's a bead blast followed by a dip in Ruger's standard bluing solution...
