London Guns has a pre-tapered bbl band swivel in .730 which will fit the bbl on my 7x64 just where I want it. What's involved? Just blue and epoxy it in place? Thanks, Bob

First you have to get the front sight off. If it's soldered, you'll ruin the bluing getting it off, so you'd be better off to solder the band too. Then re-blue the barrel
If the sight can just be un-screwed, I guess You could "glue" the band in palce, although I never have. I'd use JB Weld if I were going to try to attach a band without solder. Most epoxys will come loose if you get them hot.

(Anyone else reading this have any experience with "glueing" on bands? )

If You have to re-blue it would be best to remove the barrel, unless you want to do the whold gun at the same time. Can You do that yourself?

I've epoxied a number of barrel bands on, and they're all still there except the one I removed. Removing one took a lot of heat, and a hammer.

The London Guns band is 'as cast' on the outside, so you can't just blue it. A part like that is also a bitch to polish, with the tight spots around the swivel attachment etc. It would be easier to go with a Talley, which you size with a ball peen hammer to fit your barrel taper. Minimal smoothing of hammer marks with a file, then some emery cloth, and you are ready to blue.

Good luck.
