I have a srh 454 with ruger's target grey finish. I like the gun but hate the finish. can it be removed and if so with what? Any info on products, methods or tips to get that stuff off? Also any opinions, can it be done or will I just ruin the gun by atempting this? It is just stainless under the finish so I should be able to make it look like my srh 44 or any other ss revolver shouldn't I?

It has to be buffed off... or blasted.

I'd go with bead blasting it. If you want the same mirror polish look as a std gun, then you'll be looking at a fair bit of $, as properly polishing all the parts on a revolver is alot of work.

There is also the possibility that the special alloy ruger uses in the cylinder may be a different color then the barrel and frame, don't know for sure, but it may be a possibility.
