Took my 15 year old son to the range yesterday. His elk rifle this year will be a Ruger 77 7x57 with 4x Leupold. I casually loaded up some Speer 145s in front of 47 grains of H4350 for a practice round. He is not a highly experienced shooter, his first group about 2 inches. Second and third groups inside 1 MOA at 100. Then tried this bullet in my project rifle (l61 Sako in 7 Rem) with 64 grains of RL19. 1 MOA. Also tried 160 Sierra BT with 65 grains Re25. 2 moa, not very good. Looks like 7828 or H 1000 might work better for the 160's. This rifle will be the base for my 7 Mashburn, but it sure shoots those 145 Speers good. I told the boy I ain't going to do any more accurizing on his 7x57 - can't let him have too much bragging rights.

Paul: I kiled 11 elk with a box of 160 gr Speer mag tips in the 1970s with my 7 RM. The 145 is the perfect bullet for your son's 7x57 ...you need nothing else IMO
