Thought I would share this. Last summer I was doing some work for a gentleman and while having coffee the subject changed to hunting, then reloading and gunsmithing. He got up and said he had something to show me, he brought out a stock blank of quilted maple he had bought in 1985 for 65.00, asked if I wanted it, I said yes and told him I would give him some off his bill. It sat in the closet until hunting season was over, I sent it in to RMF and had it turned in classic style, I wiped it with an alcohol dampened rag to photograph, what do you think.....   | ||

It looks great in my opinion. I love quilted maple for just about any woodworking project. I've seen a few rifle stocks and they only exemplify my thinking in that direction. Ken.... Damned sure pretty color! stunning. I did one of maple about 15 years ago and stained it with yellow pine stain, came out interesting. here's picture  | |||

Yeah, that Hal Hartley piece is especially nice. He was the ultimate when it came to maple. I like maple alot. I like maple, I have been messing around with this one for a while, unfortunately I no longer have a mauser action to finish it. One of these years I will figure out what I'm gonna do with it.  A lesson in irony The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is proud to be distributing this year the greatest amount of free Meals and Food Stamps ever, to 46 million people. Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us... "Please Do Not Feed the Animals." Their stated reason for the policy is because "The animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves." Thus ends today's lesson in irony. | |||
