Winchester 70 push-feed rework to .338 Lapua, is it safe?
Does anyone have any input as to if this is a good idea? I have a .30-06 post 64 push feed that is collecting dust and while I believe the action is plenty strong what I don't know is if the push feed bolt face should be opened up that far. I have seen Remingtons in .338 Lapua but never a Winchester. Anyones' insight is appreciated?

I wouldn't build a Lap on anything less than a .750 bolt. Although you could do it on less the longevity of that system is questionable.

Thats the thing, there are mixed reports as to whether the Remingtons are holding up.

Unless you do the work yourself you will have enough money in the Win. action to buy a Stiller Predator. Get an action that will do the job right......Tom
