The safety on my 1950's era model 70 started binding in the fire position. It doesn't feel like dirt or corrosion as I can move it to the rear with ease. I sprayed it with break free this morning and it seems worse. I have the striker out but don't know how to disable it further. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just a bit of smoothing up is all it would take. I would hesitate to describe how to disassemble due to the strong spring, How can I help? Jim Jim Kobe 10841 Oxborough Ave So Bloomington MN 55437 952.884.6031 Professional member American Custom Gunmakers Guild

Did you polish the sear?? If the safety cam doesn't line up with the notch in the striker, like the striker is a bit more forward than it used to be, then you need to grind a bit off the striker notch, so the safety engages it smoothly. Bit of a pain to take apart, so try working some oil and moly grease into the right side of the striker, where it goes into the bolt sleeve, and oil the pivot on the safety.
