Good morning, I have a rifle that was custom built for a gentleman in Utah. He told me the two fellows that worked on the rifle were Paul Volovski and Rich Shoemaker. According to him, both were the Jim Thorpe PA area. I don't have many gunsmith connections and what I have learned through Google indicates that Mr. Volvolski passed away. Does anyone know of these fellows? The rifle is quite handsome, but it is the first custom Mauser I've owned. Thanks.

I don't know Rich personally, but we have hunted with the same outfitter. http://www.jakkalskuilsafaris.com/ I believe it's the same guy, and he is listed as a reference on the Jakkalskuil website. I'm not sure, but I believe he is also a member of the Lehigh Valley SCI Chapter. NRA Benefactor. Life is tough... It's even tougher when you're stupid... John Wayne

Frank, it's the same guy. I'm pulling the action out to see if his marks are inside the stock. Thanks again.

Frank, Several years ago I saw the rifle listed for sale on another board and it caught my eye. It is a 6.5 Brenneke built on a Husqvarna 1640 action with a stainless Lilja barrel and Turkish walnut stock. My problem is that it's a beauty and my 223AI does all the culling that needs doing on the farm. I might take it out to Utah next fall if I get my ducks in a row.
