Leupold makes their QR and QRW bases and rings that are "quick" detachable. They are relatively quick in the QR series where you just turn a lever on each base or at each end of the base and "wiggle" the scope off. I say wiggle because it does not slip off easily. However, when replacing the scope, it pretty much returns to zero. I like them and have them on my .458 WINMAG and a 9.3 X 62. "I ask, sir, what is the Militia? It is the whole people. I just put a pair of those on Maddog's 416 Taylor project. They are the ones with the little quarter turn levers on the side. I don't know how useful they are though. It would seem to me that something with a windage adjustment, as in the photo above, would be better. If the charger hump has been removed the 2 piece FN mauser bases work. Or the QRW bases fit.(weaver style with QR levers)both are great & return to zero on my rifles.

Leupold has a new single base quick detach that uses a single lever that kind of disappears into the base, also.

Thanks a lot, fellows. Have to check out if these mounts are available here in Finland. We have of course our own importer but it is not so good shop ;-)

If you don't want to ruin the action by removing the charging guide, you can use Leupold's blank bases and custom fit them behind the hump.

that is a pretty sweet looking rifle, but is that a bushnell trophy scope adjustment cap, if it is you gotta fix that in times when one needs a rifle, he tends to need it very badly.....PHC

... or is that one of the new Boone&Crockett reticled scopes with a new logo on the adjustment cap ... hiding that new finger adjustable quarter-minute clicker ...

KurtC, I love that look, just like I love most of your rifles that you post here. I wish they (Leupold) were smart enough to come up with that idea themselves - hmmmmm. I think that is a sintered base, maybe wouldn't be that hard to get a new mold? Todd

I don't think Leupold could make them for a standard 98. There are a lot of differences in the dimensions of charger guide humps, so fitting would always be required. I also don't believe the mounts are sintered, as they easily accept a rust blue. Sintered parts usually blue unevenly, and are instead often powder-coated by the manufacturer.

Hello again. I check the local price of blank QRW bases. They costs here appr. 114$. And when you add the costs of gunsmith (I suppose it costs as much as blanks) the endprice is quite heavy
