I've had this rifle for a couple of years. right now its in 30-06,except for some bluing wear it 99%.

Anything negative about these rifles? My plans are in the future but I'm planning on building a 7x57 or similiar for my kid. I have plenty of time since the old lady isnt gonna give birth to the little crapper til oct timeframe.

A lesson in irony

The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is proud to be distributing this year the greatest amount of free Meals and Food Stamps ever, to 46 million people.

Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us... "Please Do Not Feed the Animals." Their stated reason for the policy is because "The animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves."

Thus ends today's lesson in irony.

I'd be startin' now. When the little crapper does show up the ol' lady might just have you changin' crappy diapers.

I believe the 1912 steyr is one of the "good" standard M98 actions.

Finn Aagard had a 280 Rem built on one I believe.

As to having enough time.... Don't bet on it! My little girl is about to turn one and I have not even started on the 7x57 I have been meaning to put together for her. I have had the action stock blank and barrel almost a year and a half and have not found the time to get it together. If your baby's nap-time dictates your play-time you are going to find out that it is hard to get anything done.

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

Thanks guys,

I just ordered a 7x57 barrel from midway. its an A&B. not the best but when your on a budget...... it should still give minute of bear, deer, and caribou.

I hate buying from midway cuz of shipping though, but hey when you live up here, everything is expensive.
