Gents! I am about to install the QD sling studs in my Mcmillan molded in color stock. The front stud will be placed in the fore end of the stock, just under the barrel. I think I will use the dremel to remove enough material to allow the double threaded stainless steel insert to fit snugly under the barrel, and then just make a M5 size hole in the fore end, and bed it all in. But the problems that I can see arise are the drills that are to be used to cut through the hard coating on the Mcmillan stock. What to use, and what RPM? What kind of tape to use to protect from splinters, how many layers? The second stud will be molded in on the underside of the stock next to the Pachmayr pad. But how big distance should I keep to the pad to avoid drilling into the pad screws? I have had 2 pieces of stainless M10 threaded screws internally threaded for the M5 thread that is on the uncle mike qd studs. I will mold these stainless inserts into the stock, and then use the machine screws on the qd studs for a easy mount of the studs. Where to put the back stud to make it go free from the pachmayr screws? What drill to use? What tape? RPM? Sincerely Daniel | ||
