chronicRuger MKII rifle in 300 RUM?
I am a huge Ruger rifle fan. But Ruger does not offer a 300 RUM.
Is it possible to convert a Ruger bolt action MkII to 300 RUM?
If yes, can you use the std 30-06 action length?
Thanks,
Chronic

jeffeossoI think ruger doesn't offer a mkII in 300, but did the mkI... and I like the mkI better.
you would start with a rem or 338, and rebarrel, as normal

chronicjeffe,
thanks for the quick response.
Are the 338 win and 300 RUM rim/base the same size? They can both use the same bolt with no modification?
What did you mean by start with the "rem"?
Lots of questions.

Would the .338 rum go into a ruger mk11 .338 winnie after some work and how much work ??

jeffeossoMan, I hate it when I re-read my posts, and they don't make good sense to me..
First, I wouldn't do the rum, pressure, recoil, $$ for gunsmithing.. but
if i did do a 300, (win or rum) I would start with a "long" action and work up. The rum and winmag use the same bolt (close enough)
the difference between the rum and the winmag, on game, is tiny...
now, what i AM doing i one in 470 AR, a shortened RUM, see big bore for more info
