Mauser Takedown
I have a FN 98, Husky 648 that im considering having built into a takedown since with the new gun laws over here a hunter can have 6 weapons, if he doesnt have a good reason for the 7th, and if you have to much above the limit and want a new one , you must trade some of them until you are on nr 5 of 6 ,, Mad

That makes it simple but also difficult, since my economy isnt the best and this is a project that wil ltake some time, im thinking hard, and the choices i have come up with is

A: 7x64 Brenneke

9,3x62

B: 7mm Rem Mag

416 Taylor / Ruger

C 8mm Mazon (Parent Case 9,3 Brenneke)

9,3x64 Brenneke

Then it was which smith to go with but i have 2 alternatives, one in sweden or Germany, but i will enquire with one here also, budget is 2500 dollars for the set . plus loading equipment ,cases, cartridges later .

What is your opinions, just let me know it .

I really like the first set. The 7X64 and 9.3X62. Your budget sounds too tight but that's between you and your gunsmith.

i have the 7x64 .. and shot a bunch of 9,3 ..

i very nearly built a 375ruger+458AR pair .. and that might still come out of the machine

the the 2 choices, in the EU, it would be the 7+9,3 for me

opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club

Hello,
My Mauser take down set is simular to your first suggestion.
I selected the .270 Winchester ( for better availability ) and the 9,3x62. For me this is a perfect combination and will suits me around the world only excluding dangerous game.
However since it was finished just recently, I had not yet the chanche to use it outside the country.

I have and really like the 7x64 and 9.3x62. But if I was restricted to one caliber, it would be the 9.3x64.

Robert,
I wouldn't exclude the 9.3x62 for dangerous game, Ive had great results on a number of Cape Buffalo and one Lion and Hippo with it.

ozhunter,
you have just destroyed my argumentation with my wife to get another big game rifle Wink

Just kidding, but you are right, the 9,3x62 has got a good reputation on the biggest game on earth.

So, I would like to rephrase to
For me this is a perfect combination and will suit me around the world only excluding dangerous game as the main rifle. However the 9,3x62 can make a nice back up for the big bore.

Thansk for that guys, anyone that has a schetch or drawings for a budget take down that i could use ?

Thinking of doing some of the wood work, myself, the outside and finishing, but letting the smith do the rest .

As i wrote, im anticpating some cash if that goew wrong its being postponed until later .

But its being a working rifle,so looking forward to things, now i got some cases in 7x64 and 9,3x62 today so it looks promising as 2 fine cartridges that is doing fine on their wn niches .
