I'm not a gunsmith but wonder something. I have a mod 700 ADL in .223. Currently its in an HS Precision stock.
I wondered whats involved(work and $$$) to convert to a .22-250? Or, if even possible.
I would not attempt myslef, but have done if feasible.
Otherwise, consider selling and find a 700adl in 22-250 or .243.
The .223 shoots find, just would like a little more wallop for coyotes

1. Open up the boltace to accept the .473" case head.

2. Install Sako extractor

Or you might find someone to swap bolts with instead.
Either way you will also need to purchase or swap:

3. S/A Mag follower (223 or 222 style)

4. Mag box (either ADL or BDL) with spacer installed (223 or 222 style)

If you are interested in selling your ADL barreled action (223) then send me a P.M. I am looking for one. I will be gone for the rest of this week so send it next week if you are considering selling it.

might consider selling. Have to think about it. Its an exceptional shooter. At least with handloads I've used

You'll have to do what MtnHntr says, PLUS have the feed rails in the reciever opened up to feed the larger case. Not worth the money to convert it.Sell it and get a 22-250, or better yet, keep it, and get a 243.It'll really whack coyotes and you'll have decent deer rifle too.

I bought my ADL .223 when I heard the accuracy you were getting. Mine shoots just fine after a bit of fooling around with it. I havent had any trouble getting coyotes to hit the dirt though. I have been using Speer's 52 grain HP and Hornady's 60 grain HP, the latter mostly in thick cover. I used the 60 grain bullet to take a whitetail last year with no problem there either.

You can sell yours and buy another or trade yours on another MUCH more economically than reworking it to .22-250. In fact, I would guess that the labor alone would cost you as much as a new synthetic stocked 700 ADL from Wally world.
