When installing a block in the magazine of a mauser for shorter cartridges, I assume the follower is shortened appropriately-but what about the "W" spring? How do you hande that?

I just did one yesterday on a Legacy action. What I did was installed the block and positioned it so a Remington folower fit. Use the Remington 700 308 short action one. The only problem I had was the feeding. It was set up for 30-06 and the 308 wouldn't feed until I did some work on the rails and extractor.
