I am considering the purchase of a Winchester M70 chambered in .416 Remington Magnum or a Ruger M77 Magnum chambered in .416 Rigby. I would appreciate recommendations.

My vote would go to the Ruger M 77 .416 rigby, everyone else who owns one staes ther great. I held one briefly the other day and there very nice. You get a quarter Rib and it certainly looks the part. I own a CZ .416 Rigby and that is also a rifle worth considering. I love my cz rigby.

You would probably get more respond if your post was in the Big Bore forum. Anyhow, you are talking about a $500 difference in price between these two rifles. The $500 more for the Ruger would go into the elegant quarter rib and a nicer piece of walnut. The Ruger action is also bigger so you could turn it into bigger caliber later if desired. As a rifle, either one would serve you good. It would come down to which 416 caliber you like better. I like a big and classic cartridge so 416 Rigby would be my choice. Good luck.
