| If your #1 is like the ones I had, those screws don't do anything. On older #1s, they did adjust the trigger, but now...

| As George S stated, it depends on when your #1 was manufactured. Mine was made in 1977 and the two screws do indeed adjust the trigger. The front screw adjusts the trigger stop and the rear screw adjusts the trigger pull. I checked the Ruger site for the latest info manual on the #1 and it says nothing about adjusting the trigger. Damn lawyers. You can check your serial number on the Ruger site to find out when your #1 was manufactured. If it is later than around 1982 (not sure when the adjustment was removed) them working on the screws won't do anything. I adjusted mine many years ago when I first got the rifle. It patterned like a shotgun, but some work with the bedding and adjusting the trigger from 6 pounds to 3.5 made all the difference. Now it shoots fine with the right load. |

| The screws do work as described with one adjusting overtravel and the other weight of pull. At one time the NO.1s even had a sear engagement adjustment but they discontinued that feature around the mid- seventies I believe. Regards, Bill. |
