My handle indicates my status. Looking for some suggestions from this august body. Am planning my next wild affair with a modified rifle. Want to put a 34" barrel on a Ruger #3 receiver. Breech to 16" is to be round and forward portion octagon. Barrel to be straight taper from ~1.200 to 0.875. Chamber will be .45-100 for smokeless, not BPCR.

Would appreciate some names and location of sources for such a strange beast of a barrel. Best regards to all.

The one and only, Mark Straton who posts on here builds some very fine looking barrels like that and I’m sure he’d be glad to answer your questions and/or build you a barrel.

gnu, yup Mark tratton is the man for sure. I don't know if he can do 34" barrels or not. It will take a phone call. He did mine and the whole process with Mark was outstanding as was his work.

Not sure about the length, but Mark would be the man to talk to about a custom cut barrel.
