340Wby308Win Pre-64 into 9.3x62?
A 308Win Pre-64 has come up. What would it take & can a 9.3x62 be done off this action?
Or should I wait for a 270, 30-06 to come along?

Jim KobeYou could but it would take a new or modified magazine box, spring and follower, bolt stop and some sweat equity on the rails. Send it to me, I will pay you handsomely for it; about maybe $200.

J WisnerTo change the Pre 64 M70, 308 to a 30-06, you will need the following parts, plus a new barrel.
Extractor collar, # 5870
Ejector, # 6270
Magazine box # 8370
Magazine follower, # 10170
Magazine spring, # 9070
The reciever is already an 30-06, Winchester just put in the 308 parts for that caliber. The 9.3 x 62 will work well thru the 30-06 magazine and rails.

Another question. Where can I source these parts?

That sounds perfect. I will check if the rifle is still available, if so I will order the gear.
