I am looking at the Gun Digest Book of Shotgun Gunsmithing by Ralph Walker and there is a detailed article on the auto 5 modification on page 226.
quote"The first step in the conversion is to remove the ejector which is pinned to the barrel extension. Look closely and you will see the faint outline of a pin about half way down the ejector's length in the recess of the ejector. Use a pin punch slightly less than the diameter of the pin and , with the barrel extension supported on a wood or metal punch block, drive the pin out the rear of the barrel extension."
Hope this is of some help.

This is from the Gun Digest Book of Firearms Assembly/ Disassembly part V: Shotguns.

The ejector is mounted in a T-slot at the left of the barrel extension, and is retained by a riveted cross-pin. In some models it is solidly fixed, and in others it has an opening at the center and slides to the rear. In both cases, it should be removed only for repair. The riveted pin is driven out inward.

Dont know if this helps, and my A-5 is in the safe in my bed room where my wife is asleep. (shhhhh) Now I do what I can to help out here, but ant no way Im gona wake the Sleeping Giant, if you will, for nobody. I will say that this book has helped me on a couple of occasions to take apart and put back together an A-5. The A-5 is no doubt a work of art albeit a complicated one. I can also tell you that there are enough differences in A-5s that no one book on assembly/disassembly can cover every difference. Also it has been my experience when you go from one make (Remington, Savage, Browning, Pointer) to another, not a whole lot of parts will interchange.
I can assure you that you cant make a Model 11 Remington bolt go in a A-5. So with that said I would make sure that I could get my hands on the needed extractor for that production model shotgun just in case.

Can anyone advise how to remove the ejector from an older Browning auto 5? This is a fixed ejector in a keyed slot and the diagram show a "rivet" but I cannot see any evidence of a rivet.I need to modify the ejector to convert the gun to 2 3/4" shells but first must get it out of the gun! Thanks for any help. Frank.
