Should I have it adjusted or buy replacement trigger ( Timney )? Rebuilding a varmint rifle.
Would like a pull not heavier than 1.5-2.0 pounds.
How good is the factory trigger and how "light" can it go?

Winchester factory triggers are good, solid hunting triggers. Can usually be adjusted down to about 3 1/4 pounds. Anything lighter and you should go to a replacement trigger.

I can get the pre 64's to two pounds when I want one that light. Put moly on the sear surfaces.

I set my Winchester model 70 down to two lbs with no lube on the trigger. It being that light I wouldn't dare lube it.

Fox,

The best trigger you can buy to replae the original Model 70's is a Jewll, bar none, the best. I really don't think there is anything wrong with the original though; they can be set quite satisfactorily.

Has anyone installed a Timney in the Winchester? I'm thinking about it and would also like some opinions.
